Guarding our hearts daily

One of the most informative scriptures in the Bible is Genesis 6:5.

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

God came down to earth to see the state of the heart of man, and He saw that the imaginations and thoughts of the heart of man were always evil. The result was that he ordered Noah to build the ark because He was going to wipe all evil from the face of the earth through a flood. This is how strong God feels about the conscience of man.

In the New Testament, God lives in the heart of man. We must love God with all our hearts, mind, soul and everything that is within us. In Psalm 21:2 God gives us the desire of our hearts. In Proverbs 4:23 we must guard our hearts above all else because all the issues of life come from it.

The miraculous part that is within all mankind is the imagination and thoughts of the heart. God provides for us according to the way we keep our hearts sin-free so that the heart is only His dwelling.

Many times in my life I have thought that we cannot pay the salaries this month because of a lack of funds, yet we have not even once not paid salaries on time. God has always provided. It is miraculous! It reminds me of the way Jesus held a hand full of fish and bread up to heaven, thanking the Father for the provision and the food multiplied in His hands as He gave it to five thousand people to eat their fill. Nothing is impossible to God! Here is a scripture that says that nothing shall be impossible to us.

Mat 17:20:  “For truly I say to you, If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Move from here to there. And it shall move. And nothing shall be impossible to you.”

When we hear of wars famine and souring petrol prices it could be that the slightest bit of worry comes into us. I would like to remind our readers that fear comes into the heart. The same heart that we gave to God becomes the dwelling of the stench of fear, after which follows all the other works of the flesh. Fear defiles the imaginations and thoughts of the heart. It is thorns in the garden of the heart that chokes the good harvest.

God provides for us according to the way we think.

Eph 3:20:  “Now unto him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

But what power is within us?

In the case of Job, we see that the thing he feared happened to him. Fear in the heart takes over the power of the heart to bring forth the things we fear.

Seen in this light we can see the importance of sanctification of the heart. We are all sinners, but we have a great high priest, Christ Jesus who sprinkles our hearts from an evil conscience. He cleanses our hearts when we use communion and washes it in pure water. Heb.10:22. This is when we can approach the throne of God with confidence and be sure that God will surely supply all your needs, exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think because He is the power present in the heart when we guard it above all else.

If it may be that you the reader are in desperate need. First, do introspection and ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart for sin. Now take communion and, crucify those negative things. When you are sure you have dealt with everything that is not of God, go and stand before the Almighty God and call the things you have need of as a son of God. Mark 11:23-25. Now remain in thanksgiving, receiving in the imagination and thoughts of the heart the things you need and give God the glory. You will have whatsoever you say you will have!
